I love Quora. (http://quora.com). If you haven't checked out the site yet, do so. Quora is a simple "question and answer" site. You ask a question. People post answers to your questions. Other people then "upvote and downvote" those answers. It's a very simple formula. The idea of a "questions and answers" site isn't new. This format has been around forever. However, what Quora has done is taken the concept behind Answers.com, allexperts.com and Yahoo Answers (answers.yahoo.com) and streamlined it. The UI is simple. The design is intuitive. The interaction is simple. What suggestions do you have for an app that improves upon an existing site or idea? How can you simplify something? Can you "remix" an existing idea and make it easier to use? Can you break out one aspect of a site (the answers section of answers.yahoo.com) and package it as its own site / app? Can you narrow the focus of a klugey, bloated old-school app? Look around the web. Opportunities are everywhere. Does anything come to mind? If so, post it here.
The issue with app is the complexity of its codes. It is challenging for a lot of people to make one, especially when all the codes for different apps are different. One thing that could solve this is to build a website that allows people to make their own app, with a simple platform. Now, the question would be, how can we make it? There are multiple sites that allows people to build their own website but there aren't any that allows people to build their own app. Check out www.wix.com. Beautiful site, and we are going to do just that. Thoughts?
