Surprisingly enough even though around 2% of the population, one person in 50 suffer from Epilepsy, its causes are mostly unknown. Aside from those that can be directly linked to neurological damage due to injury or disease, most cases of epilepsy have no known cause, and everyone just gets something to dampen their brains. I wonder if a non-linear model of neurological signalling that used ideas like tipping points and basins of attraction would be a better model to understand epilepsy and eventually to develop therapies for it
Welcome aboard, joatman. I wonder if a good place to start would be epilepsy alert dogs (http://bit.ly/19ydWP).
